Join As An Artist

Are you interested in becoming a member of Steyning Arts? It means you:

Will be invited to take part in Steyning Arts events, including Art Trails, exhibitions and ‘Meet the Artist’ evenings.
Can have examples of your work displayed on the Steyning Arts website
Will be eligible to participate in Planning Meetings, and vote in Annual and Extraordinary General Meetings

Steyning Arts runs entirely on volunteer power, so we expect members to share the work involved in organising exhibitions and events, and in keeping the organisation running smoothly.

The normal membership fee is £15 per calendar year. For new members, and those whose membership has lapsed, there is an additional joining fee of £10 to cover admin costs.  So £25 in total in the first year, then £15 per year thereafter.  Fees for participating in specific exhibitions are extra.

For artists joining mid-year, from July onwards, we offer a special extended membership package.  This costs £30 and covers the rest of the current year, and the whole of the next year.  It saves £10 compared to taking out separate annual memberships.

Note for new members: once you have filled in the application form, please forward at least three sample images of your work to These will be reviewed by the Selection Committee as part of the application process. Should your application be unsuccessful, your membership fee will be refunded.

Art Trail – sadly the 2020 Steyning Art Trail had to be cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic.  We are optimistic about holding an Art Trail in 2021, however, though dates have yet to be decided.  Keep an eye on the website for further details.

Sending photos of your work
This website is an important way of publicising the Group and its talented members. We can accept up to 6 photographs per artist. New members are asked to submit at least three photos of their work as part of the application process.  Members can update some or all of your images once a year. Note that images you submit may be used for posters, flyers, social media and other marketing purposes.

When selecting images, bear in mind that landscape images are preferable to portrait ones. This is because they convert more easily to square thumbnail images, something that is done automatically by the website software. When you click on the images they open to full size, whatever the format, but landscape ones tend to work a bit better.  And make sure your name your image files clearly, with your name and an image number (e.g. JosieBloggs001, JosieBloggs002, etc.)
